A student-led service organization built on one standard: show up, do the work, and leave River Valley High School and the surrounding community better than we found it. This is not a club for a line on a resume. It is a commitment to service that we take seriously.
About Us
Who we are, what we stand for, and who leads this chapter.
River Valley High School Key Club, Division 14, exists to serve two communities at once: the student body we walk the halls with every day, and the wider Yuba City community that surrounds our school. We do not separate the two. A club that only serves itself is not a service club, and we hold ourselves to that standard deliberately.
Our work is organized but not rigid. We plan projects in advance, we track hours, and we hold our officers accountable for follow-through. At the same time, we stay open to new ideas from any member willing to bring one forward. Leadership here is earned through consistency, not given by title alone.
Kevin Huynh
Oversees club direction, runs meetings, and holds officers and members accountable to the commitments this club makes to the school and to the community.

Guides the club's planning, connects members with service opportunities, and ensures every project this club takes on is carried out responsibly and followed through to completion.

Our Role at RVHS
Why this club matters to the school as a whole, not just to its members.
- Setting a standard for student leadership. Every officer position in this club requires follow-through, not just a title. We want other students at RVHS to see what accountable leadership looks like, and to expect it from themselves.
- Strengthening the bridge between campus and community. A school does not exist apart from the town around it. Our projects are built to connect RVHS students directly with the needs of Yuba City, so that service is not abstract but immediate and visible.
- Creating a culture where service is normal, not exceptional. We do not want volunteering to be something a small number of students do occasionally. We want it to be something the broader RVHS student body sees modeled consistently, until it becomes part of how our school operates.
- Supporting the daily functioning of our campus. Beyond off-campus projects, our members assist directly with events, staff needs, and student activities on campus, reducing the burden on faculty and making RVHS run more smoothly for everyone.
- Developing students who carry this forward. The habits built in this club, discipline, reliability, and a willingness to serve without expecting recognition, are meant to outlast a student's time in high school entirely.
None of this happens automatically. It requires members who take their commitments seriously and an adviser and officer team willing to hold the club to its word. That is the standard we operate under, and it is the reason this club has earned the trust it has within RVHS.
Member Contributions & Opportunities
Every member has a role to play. None of these paths require a title.
Volunteer at Events
Staff and support club service projects, school functions, and community activities as they are scheduled throughout the year.
Propose and Lead a Project
Bring a service idea to an officer or Mrs. Forrestor directly. If it is feasible and serves a real need, you will be supported in leading it from planning to execution.
Recruit and Inform
Help make sure fellow students actually know what opportunities exist. A club is only as effective as the number of people who know how to get involved.
Contribute Ideas at Meetings
Bring critique and new direction to the table. We would rather hear a disagreement in a meeting than watch a project fail from lack of honest input.
Support Campus Operations
Assist teachers and staff with logistics, setup, and daily needs that keep RVHS functioning smoothly for the entire student body.
Serve Off Campus
Represent RVHS in the wider Yuba City community through partnerships and service opportunities outside of school hours.
Consistent attendance at meetings, honest communication if you cannot follow through on a commitment, and a willingness to actually do the work you sign up for. We would rather have fewer members who show up than many who do not.
No. What matters is your willingness to commit and follow through. Every skill used in this club, from event planning to public communication, is something you will build here.
Yes, and we mean this seriously. Officer roles are earned through demonstrated reliability, not seniority. A member who consistently follows through will be trusted with more.
